With "40/40," Katherina Radeva celebrates her 40 years as a woman, migrant, and artist. She claims a space on a dance floor for herself and writes stories from her past, present, and future—in language, movement, and with lots of colored duct tape. From the little girl dancing at her parents' college parties to the teenage gymnast who has experienced body shaming to the artist who refuses to be pigeonholed, we see a show that attempts to encompass the joys and sorrows of 40 years. It pops, glitters, plunges into the deepest melancholy, only to resurrect in a life-affirming performance manifesto.
